摘要
The relationship between dry film thickness (DFT) and wet film thickness (WFT) to avoid premature protective coating failures is presented. The percent solids by volume of a protective coating is used on the coatings technical data sheet and is used to calculate WFT and DFT. The thickness of dry paint is kept 65% of the thickness of the wet paint, such that DFT is % volume solids of WFT. When a coating has 65% solids, it means 65% by volume and if the paint is left to dry in the can, it would fill 65% of the can.
