An extremely high atom density in a far-off optical resonance trap (FORT) of Yb atoms was created. The density reached more than 1014 cm-3 in a crossed FORT. By developing a new scheme of crossed FORT, it was discovered that atom-atom elastic collisions in the trap played a vital role in the realization of the extremely dense atomic sample in the crossed FORT.
