Nonlinear dynamics and large-scale torsional vibration of suspension bridges

摘要：
The suspension bridge is an asymmetrical dynamical system, by numerical experiments, its complex dynamical behaviors are studied. Taking the old Tacoma Narrows bridge as an example, a new explanation other than the classical flutter theory for large-amplitude wind-induced vibrations of suspension bridges is provided.
