Simulation and optimization of helix slow-wave structure for X-band 40 W high efficiency traveling-wave tubes

摘要
The slow-wave structure(SWS) of the 40 W high space traveling-wave tubes(TWT) was numerically simulated and optimized to enhance the conversion efficiency. The simulated and the measured conversion efficiencies and output powers were found to agree fairly well with the differences less than 5.7% and 8.3%, respectively. Moreover, the phase-shift at fo of the TWT tube was estimated to be less than 40°, indicating a good linearity of the optimized slow-wave system.
