Roller Dynamic Analysis and Pure Rolling Criterion for one type High Speed Cylinder Cam Mechanism

In order to give the roller pure rolling criterion for fixed cylinder cam roller follower mechanism, with the background of one type cylinder cam mechanism and main roller-working part system, the roller dynamics analysis of high speed cylinder cam mechanism was performed. Firstly the working part system' acceleration was decomposed and it pointed out that the working part's maximum linear motion acceleration had some influence on the system driving moment. The main roller's longitudinal motion acceleration and its pure rolling angular acceleration was expressed with the variables of revolving body's rotating angle φ, its angular velocity ω1, its angular acceleration Ε1 and the cam curve pressure angle θ. With the main roller and working part as the research object respectively, by using the Newton's Second law, the dynamics necessary condition of the main roller's pure rolling is deduced. With some certain cylinder cam system example, the movement status of main roller is judged with and without the revolving body angular acceleration Ε1. It points out that the rotational angular acceleration not only increases the possibility of non-pure rolling but also increases the roller's pressure force up to 3 times and friction force 3~4 times. In the same time it indicates that properly reducing the thickness of the main rollert, increasing the main roller's inner hole radius Rn, reducing the main roller's outer radius R also helps the pure roll; and the pure rolling has great significance in reducing system's drive consumption and cam system's wear condition. Thus it has some reference value for cylinder cam profound design and checking the design quality. © 2016, Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society. All right reserved.
