The International Paper (IP) is expected to close its Hudson River mill in Corinth, N.Y., in the fourth quarter. The mill continues to be the highest cost machine in the coated papers system and IP could not develop a plan for the mill to support the overall coated paper business despite the best of its efforts. The No. 11 machine makes 100,000 tpy of coated No. 4 groundwood and No. 2 & 3 freesheet paper grades alongwith a range of specialty products.
