Proposed New York City paper mill project reported cancelled

It was decided by the parties involved in the development of the Bronx Paper Mill in New York City to cease efforts to build the mill. The state was not able to provide the significant amount of tax-exempt financing that was needed to construct the mill. The mill was to be developed by Morse Diesel International Inc. and Harlem River Yard Ventures Inc. on behalf of Bronx Community Paper Company. It was planned to build state-of-the art, environmentally sensitive plant producing 330,000 mtpy of 100% recycled fiber newsprint.
