摘要
A new smoke control strategy using a water mist screen was developed to block horizontal smoke movement in a long narrow channel. Experiments were conducted to investigate the properties of smoke blockage realized by the water mist screen, and certain parameters were analyzed to confirm its effectiveness in blocking fire-induced smoke, such as the smoke movement process, distribution of temperature, concentrations of O2, CO2, and CO, and changes in visibility. Experimental results show that after the water mist is activated, the downstream space environment is improved and meets safe evacuation requirements. Additionally, the smoke-blocking effect of the water mist screen is excellent in the long narrow channel. This experiment provides a basis for designing smoke prevention and emission strategies in narrow and long channels (tunnels or long corridors), which is significantly important in enabling mass evacuation and fire rescue. © 2017, Editorial Department of Journal of HEU.
