A discussion about a chemical industry supported legislation designed to curb class-action lawsuits by shifting many cases from state courts into federal courts is presented. The legislation is headed for a vote on the Senate floor. Lawmakers on the Senate Judiciary Committee voted 12 to 7, to send the Class Action Fairness Act to the full Senate for consideration. According to industry sources the law is a modest and very fair effort to reform the abuses in the current legal system.
