The growth and the benefits of industrial automation are discussed. According to the ARC Advisory Group, global expenditure on automation products and services will reach $36 billion within the next five years. ABB is driving a new open standard for industrial automation called IndustrialIT. The benefits of this approach are easier installation, greater scalability and future-proofing to accomodate changes in technology. Industrial automation is providing solutions to customers which help them to move towards meeting their overall business needs.
