摘要
Research of geomagnetically induced current (GIC) has made significant progress in China’s power grid. It is urgent to study and understand the secondary GIC interference to transformer and to formulate prevention and control strategies of power grid disaster. According to mechanism and characteristics of GIC reactive power (GIC-Q) disturbance generated from GIC to transformer, a calculated model of GIC-Q disturbance based on phasor measurement unit (PMU) measurements is established, and a method calculating transformer GIC-Q is proposed. In order to verify effectiveness of the model and algorithm, the GIC-Q reactive power calculated with measured data of geomagnetic storm on May 8, 2016 for an actual 500 kV transformer in Shanxi Province, compared with GIC values calculated with geomagnetic disturbance data are analyzed. Results show that the GIC-Q disturbance can be calculated effectively with PMU measured reactive power. This research has great significance for grid dispatching based on WAMS to identify geomagnetic storms and to assess GIC disaster risk. © 2018, Power System Technology Press. All right reserved.
