摘要
The paper industry is with no doubts seen by many as 'high tech' industry - but unfortunately not seen as such by the stock market. This makes it very important to understand the paper industry technology environment and the critical elements associated with its value creation. Due to the huge capital on ground the technical paper industry developments tend to be more conservative, projects mostly going after small incremental improvements not to endanger the needed high productivity rates. But the Media landscape is in a continuos change and the role (and value!) of paper can change very fast. Innovations and novel solutions by the paper industry are fueled on one side by the enabling technology suppliers and on the other side pulled by the media trends and electronic/digital system inventions. Such global technology is available to anybody and everywhere and does not differentiate to be successful or a looser. The value is created through the know-how and local competencies to implement the globally available technology into the best, most valuable local solution. The presentation is looking at elements of global technology, overviews global technology trends with particular insight into coating binders as well as outlining the critical elements of value creation.
