Numerical analysis of the damping vibration effect of pre-splitting crack based on DDA

The control of blasting hazard is an important subject in engineering blasting field and pre-splitting crack plays a big role in damping vibration induced by blasting load. In this paper Discontinuous Deformation Analysis (DDA) method is introduced to numerically simulate the damping vibration effect of pre-splitting crack with various depth, width and locations, dynamic response of rocks in protected areas is investigated. Results show that the effect increases with a larger depth and when the width is smaller than a certain value, the effect clearly increases with a broader width. Larger distance between pre-splitting crack and borehole induces poorer damping vibration effect.
