Analysis of spirally-confined RCC columns

摘要
An equivalent transformed section approach is proposed to determine the approximate load-deformation response of circular spirally-confined concrete columns. The strength of the column is formulated on the basis of a bi-axial stress-strain model of concrete. The concepts are applied to three experimentally tested columns whose results are available in literature. Results indicate that the transverse stress is about 15% of the longitudinal stress and that transformed section concepts can be applied to circular concrete columns with reasonable accuracy.
