A thermal power plant is a complicated system which cannot be modeled accurately. Conditional control of such plants is based on models which are not capable of solving all kinds of problems. So fuzzy control, which is independent of mathematical models, is introduced into the power plant control system. This paper describes a fuzzy logic controller for a General Electric MS9001E gas turbine based on human control experience. The gas turbine and controller are modeled with Matlab/Simulink. The simulation for frequency adjustment and load throw-off using fuzzy control is made in comparison with conventional control system. The simulation result shows that the fuzzy control system has better transient response than the conventional control system.
