摘要：
The happenings of the photonics business world are presented. A steering committee has been established for providing support to the photonics industry. The expansion of Newport Corp. will support the fabrication of high-precision optical products and Advanced Photonix Inc. has purchased the outstanding capital stock of Texas Optoelectronics. Development of unmanned combat vehicles and laser enabled optical systems is also discussed.
