摘要
With the development of computer technology, the numerical simulation method has been an effective tool for the investigation of the navigation performance of ice-going ships. In this paper, based on the model test on an ice-breaking bow model in the small ice model basin of CSSRC, the numerical simulation model Bri-DEM was set up using the basic principle of discrete element method, the ice-breaking resistance under continuous ice-breaking mode with the bow model of an ice-going ship was calculated and the ice destruction pattern was analyzed. Meanwhile, the calculation result was verified by the experimental data and empirical formula. Finally, the influence of the ice thickness and bow angle on the ice-breaking resistance was predicted. The research can provide useful technical reference for ice resistance prediction, navigation performance evaluation and hull-line design optimization of ice-going ships. © 2022, Editorial Board of Journal of Ship Mechanics.
