Research on the performance and effect factors of Chinese fresh fruit logistic modes - taking citrus for an example

China has become the biggest fresh fruit producing and consumption country; and the logistic modes become the key factor which effects the income of fruit farmers; so it is important to analyze the performance and effect factors and select suitable fresh fruit logistic mode. This study divides the fresh fruit logistic modes in China into three types; i.e; Market-; middleman-centered and characterized by new partnership mode. Using the date from 590 fruit farmers in 21 regions and adopting the Semilog multiple linear regression model; the performance and effect factors of the fresh fruit logistic mode is analyzed. The result shows the positive influence factors on performance are tight degree of partnerships; transaction basis; familiarity to the partner; the history of cooperation; asset specificity; the quantity of fruit; the scale of planting; cost of per 667 m2; the education of fruit farmers; the history of planting and the location of the fruit farmers; and the negative influence factors are the cost of logistic; transaction cost; the transaction uncertainty; concurrent business. © ICIC International 2014;
