Collapse and revival dynamics of two entangled trapped ions

The time dependence of the Mølmer and Sørensen (MS) model for long-time scales and beyond the second-order perturbation theory was analyzed. It was demonstrated that the long-time behavior was governed by collapses and revivals of the initial state probability. Through observation of collapse and revival of two or many trapped ions, information was provided on the periodic long-time entangled dynamics between the trapped ions. In addition, information was also provided on the density of vibrational states beyond the harmonic approximation usually applied.
