Investigation on erosive wear of modified epoxy-based composites

Based on the epoxy matrix modified by polyurethane, the epoxy-based composites reinforced by alumina particles were manufactured. The erosive wear characteristics of the composites with single particle size and a certain particle size combination were investigated on the self-made wear tester. The experimental results show that the wear resistance of the composites with single size of 22%-25% (volume fraction) alumina particles is 28 times of ZG45. For the composites with a certain particle size combination, where the alumina particle volume fraction is about 26%-30%, the wear resistance is 36 times of ZG45.
