摘要：

Today, developers use configuration management (CM) to track changes introduced into software systems. However, the art of applying CM as its inventors intended is sometimes lost in the details of corporate software development. To demonstrate this, four imaginary forms are considered. Each of the four employed source code control and an automated build process to fulfill project CM requirements at the development level.
