Control method for dual-PWM three-level electric drive system

A new control method with active power feedback is proposed to balance the DC link voltage and enhance the performance of dual-PWM three-level electric drive systems. The active power on the inverter side feeds into the current reference of the rectifier side, which decouples the DC link voltage from the motor operation state. Theoretical analysis and simulations prove that the method greatly reduces the influence of sudden changes in the motor operation state on the DC voltage. During transient processes caused by load and speed variations, the system can keep the DC link voltage almost constant, always having unity power factor on the input side, thus both the steady and dynamic system performance and the reliability are improved.
