Various odorization technologies, required to detect a natural odorant in a gas, are discussed with respect to the development of devices to identify an odor index. OdorEyes pulse-by pass odorizer accepts data from the station flowmeter and pulses a known volume of gas through the odor-air tank propotional to flow. The odor concentration meter is presented as a common instrument used to detect sulphur according to the TSI. Bacharach's Odorometer is a portable unit that checks odor intensity on a distribution line. Health Consultants' Odorator, dilutes the gas so that the operator smells the effluent. Various means of monitoring the odorometers are also presented.
