Expanding research on basis system of product design theory with function and Affordance coordination

摘要
To expend the basis system of product design theory, the concept of existing was summarized, and the connotation of “function” was unified into “intended behavior” from a view of system level and scope of conceptual object. Affordance was adopted as the basic concept in physical realm, and the different meanings of existing Affordance was analyzed which unified function connotation into “behavior possibility”. Through comparing and correlating the cleared concepts of function and Affordance, the complementary and cooperative relationship between these two concepts was clarified. Based on the coordination of function and Affordance, an expanded design theory basis system which could cover both intent realm and physical realm was constructed. More participants of design activity were involved in this theory system, and all system levels in design process were cleared, which was suited to generalized product. Through the feedback, check and iteration path between intent realm and physical realm, the theoretical basis of structured process for dynamic evolution of design activity was constructed. © 2016, Editorial Department of CIMS.
