摘要
This paper reports an outline of a reconnaissance result of 185 steel school buildings including 102 gymnasiums damaged by the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake. The reconnaissance has been performed by the Damage Evaluation Working Group of the Subcommittee on Seismic Performance of School Buildings, Architectural Institute of Japan. The structural, non-structural and overall damage has been ranked based on the Standard for Post-earthquake Damage Evaluation of Damaged Buildings published by the Japan Building Disaster Prevention Association. The damage rank of investigated buildings is shown and discussed in terms of building type, year of construction, whether seismically reinforced or not, etc. Some of characteristical damage of structural and non-structural components are also presented in this paper. © 2018 Architectural Institute of Japan.
