摘要
The European paper industry has changed in recent years. The present economic situation further influences this trend. The demands on manufactured products, machines, and facilities must adjust to this new market situation. Increasing energy costs, fluctuating raw material prices, and increasingly poorer raw material quality (waste paper) are only three of many factors to be considered. In the treatment of waste paper the paper and paperboard manufacturer seeks increasingly better systems for quality optimization and reduced energy use. Sorting is one the most important tools that considerably influences the quality. There is coarse sorting, fine sorting, and machine sorting. The discussion covers coarse sorting. Coarse sorting has the task to remove coarse impurities such as stickys and impurities from the dissolved fiber and to protect the downstream equipment. Discussion topics include efficient coarse sorting; saving energy with the OptiScreen ProCS; an example from practice of reducing energy and saving costs with increased capacity and good material quality; and summary. The Metso Optiscreen ProCS sorter opens new opportunities in coarse sorting. It enables the user to maximize stickys reduction at the start of the treatment process. Impurities and disturbing materials are not reduced in size by the gentle sorting principle and so the sorting is efficient. Stickys separation up to 75% in the OCC material are possible. The principle of the rotating screen basket guarantees less energy use at maximum sorting performance. The use of the aperture sieve baskets with large open surfaces enables acceptable passage speeds and high throughput quantities at up to 35% increased output. A worthwhile combination of coarse and fine sorting guarantees further optimization in quality and energy.
