Status of Russian refractory industry has been considered. Refractory enterprises in Russian Federation produce aluminous, magnesia, silica, and other refractories. Formed and non-formed refractory products are manufactured. However, shortage of high-quality raw materials utilized in refractory production is observed. This leads to low quality of refractory products. Measures for improvement in refractory quality are taken. The 'Magnezit' company has produced high-quality magnesia refractories for lining of basic oxygen converter. New kinds of refractory products are developed. Increase in production of non-formed refractories will be provided.
