Medical professionals and the members of the medical community are using Palmtop computers that provide them the convenience of reference material and check important information in a single device. A Palm, in comparison to a Personal Digital Assistance (PDA), has a long battery life and requisite amount of functionality at a lower price. ePocrates provides a variety of information in the PDA about drugs including proper dosing, and adverse reactions. Physicians use the Palm handheld as a reference tool and in the healthcare space to synchronize medical content. Companies such as PatientKeeper and MercuryMD have introduced Palms that help in transfer of patient data, admission and discharge information, chemistries, and blood counts. A Palm also synchs hospital data with the handheld computer such that the doctors have access to recent lab results of the patient and can quickly compare against earlier results.
