Measuring with optical sensor technology. Flexible platform as a solution concept

The checking of dimensional, form and positional tolerances of complex workpieces today is mostly carried out with tactile coordinate gauging devices. Optical sensors distinguish themselves from such devices through high measuring speeds and contact-free capture of measurement data. On the other hand it is a big disadvantage that these sensors cannot be adapted flexibly enough to changes in measurement and test requirements or measuring conditions. This article presents a platform for measurement with optical sensor technology aimed at contributing towards the elimination of existing shortcomings. The approach to finding solutions is based on the modularization of test programming, device control and machine actor technology, with individual modules communicating with each other via a bidirectional and object-oriented programmer interface. This enables an integrated information flow between test planning and test process.
