A high-speed motorized spindle is a complex electromechanical coupling system being high-order, intensively coupled, and nonlinear. It is driven by a built-in motor directly, thus, the control effect of the built-in motor has a direct impact on the dynamic performance of a high-speed motorized spindle. Here, the characteristics of various control strategies were systematically studied, and a dynamic mathematical model of the spindle was built. Focusing on U/f control and vector control, tests were performed for studying the dynamic relationship between the control accuracy and the mechanical parameters of the spindle. The results provided test bases and analysis methods for improving the dynamic performance of the spindle and finding more optimal control strategies. The future development tendency of the control technologies of a high-speed motorized spindle was prospected finally.
