Required properties of low-alloy steels for metal structures are determined by GOST 27772-88 and GOST 19281-89 standards. Properties of these steels of S345 (12G2S), S390 (14G2AF), and S440 (16G2AF) grades have been presented. However, steels with higher properties are necessary under modern conditions. New steels are developed at 'NOSTA' open-end joint stock company which utilizes naturally alloyed cast iron containing chromium and nickel. High-quality steel of S345L grade has been created. Chemical composition of the steel has been described. Mathematical model of properties of the steel has been developed. High corrosion resistance and weldability of the steel are noted.
