摘要
Regarding the proneness of bolted glulam beam-to-column connections with slotted-in steel plates to perpendicular-to-wood-grain tensile splitting failure, a new connection configuration, in which steel flanges are added to the top and bottom of the steel plates so as to reduce the perpendicular-to-wood-grain tensile stresses, was proposed. Monotonic loading tests were conducted on the proposed connections and moment-rotational angle relationship curves were established. The normalized bending capacities of the proposed bolted connections and normal bolted connections with slotted-in steel plates were discussed. It is found that the proposed connection configurations can effectively alleviate the occurrence of perpendicular-to-wood-grain splitting failure and thus lead to good deformability. The normalized bending capacity of the proposed connections is up to 129% higher than that of normal bolted connections, and even higher than what can be achieved by use of self-tapping screws, carbon fiber sheet wrapping and the locally cross-laminated timber. © 2017, Editorial Office of Journal of Building Structures.
