摘要:
Advantages of pumped storage over other types of conventional power sources and its role in operation and control of a power system were discussed after outlining typical schematics of pumped storage plants and the history of its installation. Pumped hydro storage is widely used as a large-scale plant in a power system. The technology has been improved in many aspects to make it economic and its technological performance better. Equipment was developed applicable to a power station with high head to reduce its capital cost. Technological advantages of seawater pumped storage and variable speed (doubly-fed) machines were also discussed.
