摘要
This article provides the features and performance of Cellgaia manufactured by the in situ synthesis of zeolite inside natural cellulose fibers. Cellgaia has the great advantages of high safety and easy disposal since it consists of cellulosic biopolymer and zeolite, a kind of mineral resources, without any binder. High performance papers and nonwoven fabrics having the function of zeolite can be prepared using Cellgaia. For example, copper-containing fabrics were successfully made by utilizing the cation-exchange function of the zeolite. The Cu-supported Cellgaia demonstrated the mold proofing function, antibacterial action and virus inactivation. Therefore, the Cu-Cellgaia has been adopted for a sanitary mask and a functional material for a humidifier. Cellgaia containing various metal ions is a promising material for the decomposition of volatile organic compounds; this research and development task is now energetically pushed forward.
