To explore the application of digital interaction design in the field of public art education in colleges and universities, according to the questionnaire survey of the current situation of public art education in some colleges and universities in Nanjing, it is found that the public art education in colleges and universities in China is still in the primary stage. At the same time, the results of the questionnaire also show that if the digital interactive design is used in the classroom, it will certainly arouse the interest of some students. The survey showed that the application of digital interaction design in public art education in colleges and universities improved the enthusiasm of students, but also exposed some problems. Therefore, the digital interactive courseware should be designed according to the curriculum content of the public art education in colleges and universities. It takes imparting knowledge as the center, to refine the teaching content, to highlight the interaction and exchange, to maximize the advantages of the digital interactive technology, and to improve the teaching quality of the public art education in colleges and universities. The research results showed that the digital interactive technology solved the problems that cannot be solved before the public art education in colleges and universities and would bring a series of major changes to the public art education in colleges and universities. To sum up, digital interaction can enable students to experience personally, mobilize students' interest in independent learning, and achieve more obvious results in practical teaching. © 2018, SHPMedia Sdn Bhd.
