Canada's CAE has started delivering the A/MH-6 Little Bird assault and attack helicopter combat mission simulator (CMS) to the US Army's 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment-Airborne (SOAR-A). The CMS has been ordered under a $30 million contract but delivery has been delayed by about a year after the change in requirement saw in CAE Medallion-S visual system installed instead of an SGI system. The CMS will simulate all aircraft systems including AN/APR-39 radar warning receivers and HF and satellite communications. The company is also building Medallion-S-based simulators for the SOAR-A MH-47G Chinook and MH-60K/M Pave Hawk helicopters as part of a contract worth about $90 million, including ancilliaries.
