Bob Joyce closely monitors developments in the automotive arena when advancing new technology in the company's sophisticated Jaguars and off-road Land Rovers. Bob Joyce informs that the reason for reaching out is to change the perception of engineering and convince young people to see the profession as a viable career path. He also states that the youth need to be motivated to adopt engineering as their career to fill up the skills shortage prevailing among automotive companies in the UK. JLR has been in favor of recruiting graduates over apprentices, with annual intakes made up of approximately 80 per cent graduates to 20 per cent apprentices.
