The growth of web-based solutions in the field of manufacturing industry is discussed. While big-bang implementation generally has fallen out of favor, Ametek is benefiting from a broad rollout of Oracle Applications, the Web-centric enterprise software suite from Redwood, Calif.-based Oracle Corp. The move of the web-based suits is playing dividends from a customer respective. Amtec is using Oracle's Internet-based procurement application to consolidate purchases and drive down costs.
