A discussion on mathematical model of karst air burst collapse

By analysing the examples of air burst collapses, the paper presents the three stages of air-burst-collapse development, that is, the first stage (air-pressure formation), the second stage (soil deterioration), and the third stage (air-pressure release and collapse). In the paper, the authors use the Bo-Ma ideal air equation to explain the formation of air pressure in the underground empty space when water pumping stops. Also, the conditions of the air-burst-collapse are described in the paper, and the largest safe depth for no collapse in the soil is suggested.
