Westvaco forms RF, RFID alliance

Westvaco Corp. formed an alliance with Checkpoint Systems, Inc., for utilizing its radio frequency (RF) technologies in the field of supply chain management and security systems. As per the deal, the developed technologies were to be distributed by both the companies. The supply chain challenges of electronic article surveillance (EAS) were reduced by the introduction of the low cost RF technologies of Checkpoint. Electronic signatures along with radio frequency identification (RFID) systems were a part of the development scheme. Implementation of these systems on new platforms and their related cost effective parameters were also probed.
