Active vibration control using magnetostrictive material

A method for active vibration control has been investigated in the field of high precision vibration control. Firstly, the magnetostrictive material, Terfenol-D and actuator made of it, were analyzed. Secondly, the application of adaptive filter algorithm (LMS) to active vibration control was discussed. Finally, section III is devoted to one D.O.F active vibration control real-time experiments, in which Terfenol-D actuator and LMS algorithm were adopted. From the results of real-time experiments, it can be concluded that the magnetostrictive material and adaptive filter algorithm are reasonable choice for active vibration control.
