U.S. newsprint consumption weakest since 1980s

North American newsprint industry is continued to be in weak conditions. The U.S. consumption and demand has sloped down since last six months. According to Pulp and Paper Products council U.S. daily consumption of newspapers in June is the weakest, and the consumption is off by 12.6% including 10.3% among dailies. U.S. newspaper revenues fell by double digit volumes across the country, country's demand for newsprint fell by 505,000 tons for six months but in June it fell by 127,000 tons. As a result the inventories also fell remarkably in June.
