Call for legislation to help boost recycling rate

The Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) has published a report on the findings on European collection and utilization of recovered papers in 2002. The report also reveals how the paper and board industry is faring in its aim of reaching the 2005 recycle target of 56% committed to in the European declaration on Paper Recovery. Europe's recycling rate increased slowly in 2002 by 0.6% to 52.7%. The slower pace reflected market developments which included a decrease in newsprint production.
