Canfor Corp. told customers that it would push for $650/tonne at a time when buyers have begun trying to deflect high prices for pulp. The prices would raise the U.S. effective list price by $100/tonne since the beginning of the year 2004. Purchasers noted that the steady pull from Asian customers helped to tighten North American market. The South Korean buyers stated that they would buy enough pulp to fulfill their minimum requirements.
