摘要
Large-enrollment lecture classes experience unique challenges for implementing active and blended learning methods. To facilitate active learning in a large-enrollment classroom, attention must be paid to what students do before and after class, as well as during class itself. Implementation of active learning in a flipped classroom can be achieved effectively by leveraging technology and wise use of time and personnel. A partially flipped approach was found to be effective at introducing active learning into the lecture. This chapter presents good practices for implementing a flipped classroom for large-enrollment organic chemistry classes with an emphasis on effective pre-class preparation and in-class structure. © 2019 American Chemical Society.
