Advanced use of thermography in the analysis of welded joints

In this paper various thermographic techniques have been used for the study and characterization of different types of welded joints. In particular, three cases relating to three different applications will be presented: the monitoring of the aluminum sheet welding process, non-destructive control with a stimulated thermographic technique of thin welded joints and the fatigue study of steel welded joints. The results obtained show how thermographic technique can be used to characterize the quality of welding from process to service. © IIW 2016.
