摘要
The rapid rise of electric vehicles (EVs) in India requires more energy to power these vehicles. In addition, the transport sector emits greenhouse gases, especially carbon dioxide (CO2). Due to the additional electricity required to charge these EVs, the national electricity grid has to deliver more than 1500 MW daily. The proposed system offers an electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) using both solar energy and biogas fuel to decrease the dependence on the national power grid. The proposed system is a combination of a photovoltaic solar module (15 kW), biogas generators (10 kW), a converter (15 kW), 27 lead-acid batteries (100 Ah each), and EV charging equipment. The proposed system consists of the economic, environmental, and technical analysis of using renewable energy optimization using the HOMER Pro software tool. The article estimates the levelized cost of energy of the system at $0.1902/kWh, the system net present cost at $68,202, and the system operating and maintenance cost at $2,820. Also, the proposed system has the potential benefit to reduce CO2 emissions by nearly 44.16% per year as compared to conventional EVCS. The proposed system also saves nearly $13–$17 per month to charge an EV. © 2022 by Begell House, Inc.
