A three-day conference was held in Sta. Clara, CA, to discuss the role of the Internet in the pulp and paper industry. Over 300 people participated in the first e-business/paper and converting conference that included remarks from several leading pulp and paper dot.com companies. Guest speakers underlined the need for paper and pulp companies to provide fast and agile Internet services to be more competitive and improve their relationships with their customers. The Internet is also seen as a tool to help paper and pulp companies become more efficient in terms of selling and supply side management.
