Mechanical properties of Bukit Timah granite under dynamic tension

The mechanical properties of Bukit Timah granite under dynamic tension were studied by 3-point flexural tensile test and Brazil method. It was shown that the dynamic tensile strength is about 10% when the loading rate increases by one order of magnitude. The strength obtained by 3-point flexural tensile test is about 2.5 times of that obtained by Brazil method. Compared with the strength, the elastic moduli of the granite are scattered and change slightly with the increase of loading rate. Based on the experimental results, the mechanism of rock material under dynamic tension was analyzed.
