Stora Enso, one of the world's leading supplier of consumer packaging boards, and Finnish software supplier Stockway are working on a joint project for the development of intelligent packaging solutions based on contact-free identification of radio frequencies (RFID). Apart from other advantages, Stora Enso envisages an optimum logistic, higher product safety and a real time control of the supply chain in new packaging applications. Intelligent packaging will have built-in interactive functions and enable the trade partners to trace back products without gaps. The Track-and-Trace application from Stora Enso will be based on the RFID software trackway of the company Stockway. Demand for RFID applications are on the increase in many segments.
